Sound in LuaPlayer

September 11, 2006

Sorry it has a been a long time since my last post but I’ve been busy with real life, and most of all.. as you can understand it from the title itself : busy with the port of libmikmod !

So thanks to it, the LuaPlayer now features full sound and sfx πŸ™‚

Additionally I optimized a lot all file access (using buffering) so loading time are much more faster and specially for host !! To finish and as always, a little video of drMario (yes I love it!) but this time with sound enabled !

Enjoy !

A quick remark on the performance, as the PS2 is of course doing a great job. I tried the other day DrMario on LuaPlayer 0.20 for the PSP (@233Mhz) and the sound was a bit choppy. But as you can see, everything is working just fine here, so PS2 still r0x0rs πŸ™‚

  1. Well… Dr. Mario was made for LUA 0.10 though, and there’s lots of bits and bobs added that makes it slower (with choppy sound) in the later releases of LUA πŸ˜‰

  2. mikehaggar ! glad to see you here πŸ™‚ note that when I was speaking of performances, I was refering to the player itself, not the game ! but it runs just fine on the PS2 :]

  3. Too bad I can’t test it myself on my ps2 then πŸ˜‰

  4. great job i hope you release them fast

  5. wait and wait and wait pls make an release !!!!!!

  6. ohhhhh, give us a release 😦

  7. a new week and no new news i am sad ……

  8. Don’t ! I’m currently adding MC & USB support to LuaPlayer (remember that until now i’ve been using host only), as soon as it’s working properly i’ll make a first release πŸ™‚Also, I don’t think it will officially support CD since it’s a read-only device and since most of the script “write-open” files (score, configuration, screenshots, ..)be patient, and don’t expect too much from it as well ! it’s just a luaplayer and it won’t change your life πŸ™‚

  9. great how long think you must work that we can see the first release ^^
